Give Us a Break Appeal for Carers Support Merton

Sponsored Trek across the Sahara by The Rev'd Gilly Pawson

Recently Gilly Pawson has taken up the challenge to trek across the Sahara in aid of Carers Support Merton. 

Carers Support Merton is a local charity which provides advice, support and respite opportunities for all carers in the borough of Merton, including carers of older people, mental health carers, parent carers, adult carers and young carers.  Gilly is particularly interested in their Young Carers Project which provides weekly clubs for 5-8, 9-12 and 13+ age groups, as well as providing one to one support, day trips and residential opportunities.  They also run workshops to support their young carers such as Beat Bullying, CV training etc.

A number of fund-raising events will be organised, so watch this space!  Gilly is going to need to do lots of training to prepare herself for the gruelling 7 day trek across the desert which is taking place in March!  It is especially appropriate for her, as the trek takes place during Lent, so it will be a real Lenten journey into the Wilderness.
