St Marks Church Hall and Garden Hire

Church Hall in centre of Wimbledon

Church Hall in the centre of Wimbledon

St Mark’s Hall is located in the heart of Wimbledon Town Centre, two minutes away from Wimbledon train, underground and tram station, and close to many shops, restaurants and amenities.

Built in the 1960’s and recently renovated, the Church Hall is available for hire at weekends. During the week it accommodates the Butterfly Preschool in the morning and various groups and clubs in the afternoon. However, when not required by these regular hirers, the hall may still be bookable, especially during school holidays.

St Mark’s Church has a spacious garden adjacent to the Church Hall, which is available for hire with the hall.

Key Collection and Drop-Off

Key collection and drop-off is via key safe, details of which will be provided by email a few days before your event. The keys must be returned to the key safe immediately after the hire.

Hall Information

The hall can comfortably accommodate 100 people standing and there are 15 Tables (1.8m x 0.9m) and 40 chairs provided. Additional chairs can be arranged prior to your event, if required. The tables and chairs must be put away in their storage cabinet at the end of the function.

The hall has a small kitchen and hirers are welcome to use its cooker and fridge to prepare and store food if needed. However, crockery and cutlery are not available.

A disabled toilet can be found by the entrance to the Hall.

General housekeeping rules

Rubbish collection and cleaning:
Hirers are responsible for leaving the hall in a clean, tidy condition, taking all rubbish home immediately after the event has ended as there are no bin facilities on site. A broom is stored in the cupboard situated to the left-hand side rear of the hall. Please bring your own cleaning products, bin bags and tea towels. All helium balloons must be removed after the event and we, therefore, recommend a long string be attached in case they rise to the ceiling.

Teenage parties: We regret that the Church Hall cannot be used for teenage parties.

Music: Music cannot be played after 10pm and noise must be kept at a reasonable level at all time to ensure it does not disturb our neighbours.

Parking: Limited off-street car parking for up to 3/4 cars is available outside the hall. Alternately there are public car parks nearby in St George’s Road, Queens Road and Hartfield Road.

Smoking: Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the premises as well as the garden.

Decorations: Fixing anything (permanently or temporarily) to the walls, doors or ceiling of the Hall, other than with Blu-Tac or on the designated cork boards on the walls, is prohibited. If using balloons please ensure they are on a long string so they can be easily removed from the ceiling. Small tea candles can be used. Please be aware that any trace of wax must be removed from tables and floor. Any wax remaining will result in a cleaning charge being deducted from the deposit.

Safeguarding: Those who hire our facilities have to abide by our safeguarding policies. You can see a copy of the relevant policy here.
