Choral Scholarships at St Mark’s Church, Wimbledon

Choral Scholars will need to be able to read music and previous experience of singing in a choir is desirable. There will be further opportunities to sing at additional services, some of which attract additional fees such as those at Christmas and Easter, funerals and weddings, and to perform solo repertoire as part of services or recitals.

St Mark’s is a Church of England church which is part of the parish of Wimbledon, located next to Wimbledon Station. St Mark’s is an inclusive and welcoming church that maintains traditional music and liturgy. The adult choir of volunteer singers is a friendly group currently numbering ten members and slowly growing. The choir does not robe, matching the relaxed ethos at St Mark’s. The choir leads the singing of hymns, responsorial psalms, and a communion setting each week as well as performing an anthem during Communion.

This is an excellent opportunity for singers to develop their musical skills in a supportive and relaxed environment. For more details, and information about arranging an informal audition, please contact the Pastoral Minister, Paula Thorvaldsen
paula@stmarkswimbledon.org.uk or 07711 887430.

An enhanced DBS certificate (paid for by St Mark’s) is a requisite of the Scholarships.

Bishop Christopher sent us this message earlier in the week: Please consider joining Richard by fasting in whatever way you can- using the time to pray for food and aid supplies to get into the region and meet the needs of those who are suffering so terribly. Please be sensible in fasting, doing only as much as you can manage and following medical advice, where necessary. If you do join in, you can share what you’re doing on social media by using the hashtag #fastforgaza
